Double decker serum

Have you ever heard of a double decker serum before? The hydration of water with the moisturisation of oil. Like a two-in-one-shampoo-conditioner but it actually works!

50% hyaluronic acid serum, 50% your favourite oil/oil based serum, 100% skin nourishing and time saving!

The broad spectrum preservative in the HA serum protects both water and oils which allows you to have the best of both worlds in one pretty bottle.

About hyaluronic acid (HA) serum
Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that can attract up to 1000 times its weight in water. It occurs naturally in the body and generally decreases with age, which is why most skin types – even oily and acne-prone skins – respond so well when it's introduced artificially. Because HA molecules are large, they can’t penetrate the deeper layers of the skin topically. They do have a temporary effect on the skin’s appearance though, drawing moisture to make it look plump and hydrated. We love hyaluronic acid serum for that reason - you can look noticeably fresh and youthful after one application!

Usually you would use hyaluronic acid (HA) serum before applying moisturiser or oil serum, because HA used on its own can dry out skin as its whole "thing" is to draw in moisture, if it's not getting it from outside it will draw the moisture from inside your skin and bring it to the surface. Hence why we want to give it a nourishing external source to draw from. That's where the glorious oils come in and do their job!

Oils
Barbary fig oil (aka prickly pear) or rosehip oil make great day-time serum as they absorb quickly. For a night-time serum you may want to use something heavier such as macadamia nut oilmarula oil or moringa oil. Try our Seven Sharp Serum or Rich nutty evening oil recipes for  blend ideas.
