Description: The Mentha piperita herb, more commonly known as peppermint, reaches up to 88.9 centimetres in height and produces dark-green, fragrant leaves covered in fine hairs. The plant produces no seeds, but spreads through an underground network of rhizomes.
The plant's leaves and flowers are used to obtain the essential oil, via steam distillation. Around 50 percent of the oil is composed of menthol.

Aromatherapy: Peppermint essential oil's strong, minty aroma can have an uplifting and energising effect on mood. Inhaling the scent of peppermint oil through diffusion or inhalation methods may promote feelings of alertness and mental clarity.

Air freshener: The pleasant and invigorating scent of peppermint essential oil makes it a popular choice for natural air fresheners. It can be used in diffusers, sprays, or potpourri to help eliminate odors and create a refreshing environment.

Focus and concentration: The aroma of peppermint oil is believed to enhance focus and concentration. Some people use it during work or study sessions to help maintain mental alertness and productivity.

Repelling insects: Peppermint essential oil is said to have insect-repellent properties due to its strong scent. It is often used as a natural alternative to chemical insect repellents. Diluted peppermint oil can be applied to skin or around the home to deter insects like mosquitoes, ants, and spiders.

Cleaning agent: Peppermint essential oil is a great candidate for use in homemade cleaning solutions. It can be added to water or vinegar-based cleaners to add a pleasant scent and can help disinfect surfaces.

Alertness during travel: Peppermint oil's invigorating aroma can be used during long car rides or flights to help combat fatigue and maintain alertness.

Personal care products: Peppermint essential oil is commonly used in DIY personal care products such as soaps, lotions, shampoos, and bath salts to provide a refreshing and cooling sensation.

Safety data: Very potent and not to be used on sensitive skin. Avoid use during pregnancy.
