Tamanu oil is a unique plant oil, containing approximately 92% neutral lipids, 6-7% glycolipids and 1-2% phospholipids. It contains mainly oleic, linoleic, stearic and palmitic acid.

Tamanu oil can be applied directly to skin, undiluted.  However the oil, along with its intensive green colour, has a rather overpowering odour that some people do not find pleasant. It is most often used diluted in a more neutral carrier oil, in an emulsion or melted together with a solid butter to create a balm.

Packaging - See our blog on our commitment to sustainable packaging.
Our carrier oils come in amber glass bottles with 28mm neck in volumes:
30ml, 50ml, 100ml, 250ml.
Larger volumes must be packaged in plastic as glass becomes too dangerous to ship.
500ml: Amber PET plastic bottle with 28mm neck.
1L and 5L: PET white plastic jerrycans.

Winter packaging note for Tamanu oil: In the colder months tamanu oil becomes much more solid, so during winter we will often package this in pots rather than bottles. Amber glass bottles up to 100ml. Clear glass for 250ml and 500ml. White plastic for 1L and 5L.
