Basic Clay Mask

 

If you're new to making your own face masks or if you have particularly sensitive skin then this basic clay face mask is a great jumping off point because, well, it's basic!

White kaolin clay is a gentle and versatile ingredient in skincare, offering several benefits. It is known for its mild cleansing properties, making it suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. The clay helps to gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead cells and promoting a smoother, more refined texture. It also absorbs excess oil without stripping the skin of its natural moisture, which can help balance oily and combination skin. Additionally, white kaolin clay has soothing and calming effects, making it ideal for reducing redness and irritation, while also helping to refine pores and improve overall skin tone.

This makes it an excellent base for a clay mask that you can always add more ingredients to once you become more confident on your face mask making journey.

Make Your Own Basic White kaolin Clay Face Mask


Ingredients
Makes approximately 30-40g, enough for one mask 

50% | 1 tablespoon White clay
50% | 1 tablespoon water

Method

  • In a small bowl, mix the clay with the water to form a paste.
  • Add water gradually and use more or less depending on desired texture

To use
Using your fingers, or a cosmetic brush, spread the paste over your face and neck. Leave it on for 10 minutes then wash off with water.
