Lip Scrub

This is a fun and easy recipe which smells amazing! Lip scrubs are a great way to exfoliate dead skin cells, boost blood circulation and leave your lips feeling plump and smooth.

Make Your Own Lip Scrub

It is important to exfoliate the skin on the face gently, hence why I have used castor sugar which is finer rather than raw brown sugar as that is far more coarse. Coarse sugar is great for exfoliating the body and feet, but can damage the delicate skin on our face.

Ingredients
Makes 100g

70% | 70g Castor sugar (any fine sugar)
15% | 15g Coconut oil, organic virgin
14.2% | 14.2g  Cocoa butter, deodorised, certified organic
0.5% | 0.5g Vitamin E
0.3% | 0.3g  Essential oils of your choice (optional)
Pinch of Mica for a pop of colour

For the lip scrubs pictured:
Strawberry Blush Lip Scrub: Strawberry fragrance oilPrincess peach mica
Mango Lip Scrub: Mango fragrance oil & Orange mica
Coconut Lip Scrub:
coconut fragrance oil and no mica.

Method

  1. Weigh the coconut oil, cocoa butter and sugar in a pot or heat proof jug. You can use a water bath or on direct heat, if using direct heat be careful to keep the heat very low. We want to melt the coconut oil without crystallising the sugar.
  2. Stir to combine as it melts.
  3. Once combined, take off the heat and add the vitamin e oil and essential/fragrance oil (if using) and mica (if using).
  4. Pot and leave to set.

    How to Use Lip Scrub

    1. Apply a Small Amount: Scoop a tiny bit of lip scrub with dry clean finger and gently rub it onto your lips.
    2. Massage: Use circular motions to exfoliate and remove dry, flaky skin.
    3. Rinse Off: Gently rinse with warm water.
    4. Hydrate: Finish with your favourite lip balm for soft, smooth lips.

Use 1–2 times a week for the best results! 💋

    Note
The vitamin E in this recipe acts as an antioxidant and will help to give it a longer shelf life but is not a broadspectrum preservative. Therefore it is very important that water does not come in contact with the scrub. Make sure you use dry hands when in contact with the lip scrub.
