Rose & Cranberry Micellar Water

Micellar waters are popular, multifunctional, skincare products that can remove makeup, cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin all at the same time!

Making Your Own Rose & Cranberry Micellar Water

Usually a blend of water, hydrosols and herbal extracts, with small quantities of surfactants, they are used to remove both hydrophilic (water-loving) and hydrophobic (water-hating) dirt.

In addition to promoting skin hydration, removing dirt and oil, and helping keep skin clear, micellar waters are generally suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

You can follow this recipe directly or use this as a base to add your own spin by incorporating hydrosols and extracts of your choice - see substitutions below.

Ingredients
Makes 100g - use our Batch Size Calculator and the percentages provided here to easily adjust the volume of your batch.

Phase A
89.95% | 89.95g Rose hydrosol, NZ, spray free
5% | 5g Cranberry glycerite extract

Phase B
4% | 4g polysorbate 20
1% | 1g Geogard ECT
0.05% | 0.05g Vitamin E, certified organic (optional)

Method

1. Combine Phase A ingredients in a beaker, stirring until well mixed.
2. In a separate beaker combine Phase B ingredients, stirring until well mixed.
3. Slowly add Phase B to Phase A, stirring until well mixed.
4. Check/adjust pH to 5 - 5.4. See our pH testing - why & how we do it blog post for more info.
5. Pour into a bottle

Pump Action Bottle:  Amber glass bottle, 250ml & Lotion pump  A lotion pump bottle is optional but it's really handy for ease of use, and helps lower the risk of water droplets getting into your oil during use.

To use

• Either pour or spritz onto cotton wool or face wipe of choice.
• Sweep across the face to cleanse and remove makeup.
• Does not need to be rinsed off.

Substitutions

• Hydrosol - You can choose any Hydrosol use aloe vera juice, or simply replace the entire percentage, or part thereof, with distilled water.
• Glycerite extract - You can choose other glycerite extract Pomegranate glycerite extract - Papaya glycerite extract - Watermelon glycerite extract
  or replace with Glycerin. You could also use a hydroethanolic extract at a lower percentage (check the recommended usage rate on the product pages). If you choose the do this, keep the 5% glycerin and take the percentage for the hydroethanolic extract out of the water/hydrosol.
