Blackcurrant seed oil, NZ

New Zealand-grown, cold-pressed virgin blackcurrant seed oil is extracted from the seeds of Ribes nigrum and is valued for its nutrient-rich composition. This dark coloured oil is known for its high concentration of essential fatty acids, including gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), and stearidonic acid (SDA). Traditionally used in skincare and haircare, blackcurrant seed oil is popular for its lightweight feel and nourishing properties, making it a sought-after ingredient in DIY beauty formulations.

Due to it's dark colour and earth aroma blackcurrant seed oil is generally blended with other, more neutral carrier oils.

Skincare Uses

Rich in essential fatty acids: Blackcurrant seed oil contains a unique combination of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, commonly used in skincare to support hydration.

Lightweight and easily absorbed: This oil absorbs well into the skin without leaving a greasy residue, making it a versatile ingredient in face and body formulations.

Nutrient-dense: Naturally containing vitamins and antioxidants, blackcurrant seed oil is often used in serums, moisturisers, and facial oils designed to support skin nourishment.

Haircare Uses

Conditioning and softening: Frequently included in haircare formulations, blackcurrant seed oil is said to help enhance moisture retention and improve hair manageability.

Scalp nourishment: With its balanced blend of essential fatty acids, this oil is often incorporated into scalp treatments to provide lightweight hydration.

Additional Uses

Ideal for DIY formulations: With its smooth texture and nutrient profile, blackcurrant seed oil is widely used in homemade skincare and haircare products.
